Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix together sifted flour, sugar, salt and seeds, rub in the butter and then stir in the yeast.

2. Stir in the water and mix into a soft dough by hand.

3. Knead for about 5 min. with an electric mixer or again by hand

4. Place the bowl covered with damp tea towel in a warmed up oven to 50 Celsius degrees for about 1 hour.

5.  Knead again for a short while and place in greased 2 lb bread tin.

6. Bake in oven set to 230 C degrees (gas mark 8) for 35-40 min.

Baked loaf should sound hollow when tapped underneath.

Remove bread out of the tin and let it cool on wire rack.   Enjoy!

Notes

10 min. before the end of baking time, take the loaf out of the oven and brush it generously with water, milk or beaten up egg.   You can then sprinkle poppy or sesame seeds on top.   Pop it back into the oven and leave to bake for the remaining time.   That will bring pretty sheen to the crust of your delicious bread loaf.
